The idea of this blog attached to the site is just share a few comments and insights on the process of training for the two charity rides in London and Birmingham, as well as sharing some news from the two charities as appropriate.
It may get added to often or it may be updated less frequently (depends on how much time I have and how many interesting things I have to share.
At the moment, I have been back in training for a couple of months, trying to ramp up the mileage steadily (longest so far this year was 72 miles towards the end of May), and need to start hitting the hills a bit more to be ready for, particularly, Birmingham, which is more lumpy than London is … although I do want to try and get up Leith Hill without having to walk this year. Hopefully we won’t be stood around at the bottom for over an hour this year, because trying to get up a climb like that without a good warmup is a nightmare.
I am having a bespoke shirt made to wear for the two rides, and will share some images of that when available. There will also be t shirts available for people to show their support for my rides as well as throw an extra few pounds in the pot.
